ACG Tauranga placed first in New Zealand for Spanish in the 101-250 users category of the Education Perfect NZ Languages Championships.

The week-long online competition sees students answer questions in different languages, scoring points for their school. This year 11.4 million questions were answered by students all over New Zealand in languages throughout the week.

ACG Tauranga also came fourth overall out of 260 schools (of all sizes) in New Zealand for Spanish and had the highest average score per user for Spanish out of all schools.

Some students competed in additional languages, placing the school 2nd for Russian, 2nd for Latin and 6th for German in our category.

Prizewinners:

  • Olivia Shields: 6th in New Zealand for Spanish
  • Mia Higgins: 8th in New Zealand for Spanish
  • Anja Crombie: 9th in New Zealand for Spanish and top ACG Tauranga for total points (various languages)

Felicidades to all!

International Languages Week

The top results in Education Perfect rounded off a fantastic International Languages Week, which saw teacher Angela Gill organise a week of cultural and linguistic challenges and events, including competitions like: ‘Where in the world is my teacher?’ and ‘Match the custom to the country.’

Highlights were the alternative international menu on offer for students from the café next door (80 lunch orders were received) and the ice block challenge in which students greeted and introduced themselves in any language apart from English and were treated to an ice block for their efforts.
