Phenomenal A-Level success – our students are unstoppable

ACG Tauranga’s College students have achieved the school’s best A-Level results ever, despite a year filled with challenges and Covid-19 lockdowns.

In the recent Cambridge International Examinations, Year 12 and 13 students continued to excel, undeterred by the transitions between physical campus and online learning – and flourishing under the guidance and support of ACG Tauranga’s teaching team.

“2020 was definitely not straight forward,” says Principal Thea Kilian. “What mattered most to us was ensuring we provided a safe and secure learning environment for our students, regardless of everything that was happening in the world around them.”

In consequence, the school is now celebrating an outstanding year of academic accomplishment.

AS-Level success (the initial stage of senior student study)

  • 91% pass rate

A-Level success (final stage of senior student study)

  • 100% pass rate

These outcomes illustrate exceptional performances across all subject areas, with students achieving a perfect A-Level pass rate for the second consecutive year.

Also particularly pleasing, was a significant improvement in the number of A* and A grades (80% or better) attained, with an impressive 17% increase on last year’s AS-Level results and a remarkable 29% improvement at A-Level.

Principal Kilian was delighted with the school’s success and is exceptionally proud of how both students and teaching staff rose to the occasion.

“Our students knew that, as teachers, we had considered, and planned, for every possible outcome in 2020. This meant they could simply focus on being the best learners they could be.

“Tracking achievement was another incredibly important aspect of this success. Knowing what level our students were performing at throughout the year and having the right conversations at the right time to encourage, guide and support are crucial for learning.

“I am very humbled to be working alongside such a professional and committed team who truly care about our kids, our school and our community.”
