Danel De Jongh

Primary teacher

My name is Danel and I am from Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been blessed the last four years while learning alongside co-workers and tamariki here in New Zealand. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Foundation Phase Teaching together with an Honours Degree in Special Needs Education which I obtained from the University of South Africa.

Before I came to New Zealand, I worked at a Primary School that caters for learners with special educational needs which experience has helped me to empathise with children and their needs at an individual level. For the last four years, I have been blessed to utilize my skills in various early childhood centres. I feel honoured that I have the privilege as a teacher to help and see children grow and develop and to guide them on their way to independence.

I believe that Pre School education should be about creativity - teachers using their creativity in providing imaginative and motivating learning opportunities, in a challenging and stimulating environment, so that children are encouraged and supported in becoming spontaneous, divergent and enthusiastic learners.

I am a provisionally registered Primary teacher.

I can’t wait to meet all the lovely Tamariki at ACG. I look forward to building a lasting, loving relationship with everyone.
